The glitzy launch of this fine dining restaurant grabbed headlines, as it saw a whole bevy of Bollywood personalities in attendance. The eatery whose tagline is "Flavour of the east" is the brainchild of director Kunal Deshmukh, who directed the Bollywood blockbuster Jannat.

True to its tagline, the eatery serves Thai, Indonesian, Indian, Chinese and Oriental cuisine. The menu card may seem limited, but according to the manager, all the items are fully paisa vasool.

Ambience: Trikaya combines contemporary chic with subtle classical elegance. As you enter, you are welcomed by brass statues of Lord Buddha in various sizes. The eatery has a lounge bar as well, which offers a lovely view of the surrounding hills.

We tried: The Malaysian Apple Chicken (Rs 250) was highly recommended by our attendant. Though, it resembles a Chicken Lollipop, it tastes very different. It was deep fried, not too spicy and tasted delicious with the schezwan sauce. For the main course, we ordered a Balinese Veg Curry (Rs 175) and Assorted Roti Basket (Rs 65). Served in 20 minutes, the curry consisted of small pieces of carrot, mushroom, cauliflower, broccoli leaves and tomatoes, cooked with garlic, onion and Thai masala. It was served in a big bowl filled with gravy and tasted yum. We liked the Roti Basket, which included plain Roti, Butter Paratha, Khaska Roti, Missi Roti, Cheese Garlic Roti and Butter Naan. They were generous with the quantity as well, as it was sufficient to feed three people.

Service: Trikaya scores full marks when it comes to service. The manager and attendants were polite and well-informed. At the end of the meal, we had to agree with the manager that the eatery is indeed value for money.
