Rock bands to astound thousands of netizens at their bi-annual event being held in the city today
A bi-annual charity event, which will be held by tweeples today, will come with a twist this time around. For the first time, the event will be streamed live online, and will feature performances by bands like Thermal and a Quarter (TAAQ), and Parvaaz.

Amit Khare, lead of Bangalore Twestival informed that anybody can watch the event by paying an entry fee of Rs 300. The amount collected through charity and online donation would go towards the welfare of Snehadeep Trust, a NGO working for the visually impaired. "The idea is to have fun even if you are organising an event for charity. The concept is to tweet, meet and give," said Khare.
On the occasion, TAAQ will also present their online social initiative and perform new songs like Bangalore flowers and more. Explaining why the band has been included in the fest, Rajeev Rajagopal, drummer said, "Music means more to us than just crowd titillation or self indulgence. It is the strongest weapon against all the injustice happening around us, and the country definitely needs plenty of help."
Vaijayanthi, regional co-ordinator for Twestival India, said, "A page has been dedicated to Twestival on GiveIndia, a portal that helps in online fundraising for NGOs."u00a0 The portal will pick a city with maximum number of donors and the donation amount. Then, the portal will give a matching amount to Twestival. Currently, about Rs 5 lakh has been collected as donation across five cities.

Tweeples and Facebook users will come together at a city lounge bar to discuss various social network initiatives and raise funds. Twestival, which is in its third year, will have thousands of netizens from over 160 cities across the world celebrating the day. In India, the events will be held in Bangalore, Cochin, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune.
