Toddlers with their parents in tow are on the run again.

Nursery admission forms for 2010-11 for most schools in the National Capital Region (NCR) are on sale and parents are as confused as before.

But this year, there is a help Net.

To help parents with nursery admission, many web portals that provide information about the process, are taking the help of social networking websites. Dedicated communities are offering minute-by-minute update to members.

Web portals such as
www.nurseryadmissions.com and www.admissionsnursery.com have created accounts on Twitter and Orkut. Members who want to convey a message can also post the information here.

Rajan Arora, who runs www.nurseryadmissions.com said, "The number of hits on our website has increased drastically. On an average there have been around 10,000 hits. We look forward to help all those who are not members. We have joined Twitter to share the latest news."

Parents happy

Raj Kumar, a businessman from south Delhi and father of a four-year-old child, said, "The process has become very simple now. Earlier, I had to register with several websites and keep searching for updates. Now I have been following them on Twitter. I keep getting updates and have to just follow one website. When the dates for Delhi schools will be announced, the role of such websites will become more important as the number of people seeking admission will increase significantly."

This year schools in the NCR have started their admission process a couple of months before Delhi schools.

In Delhi, the criteria to be followed by schools while formulating the points system for shortlisting children are governed by the Directorate of Education. However, there is no such regulatory body to administer the admission process in the NCR.

Many Delhi schools are also waiting for government directions on Right To Education bill. In Delhi, interviews with children are prohibited but an informal interaction with parents is permitted. In the NCR region, schools interview children as well.
