The accused, along with two others, stabbed the constable to death while he was trying to stop them from stealing a vehicle
Two youths, accused of brutally murdering an Uttar Pradesh police constable recently, were arrested from the Neb Sarai area of south Delhi on Wednesday night. Police also recovered a semi-automatic pistol, a blood-stained dagger, a stolen motor cycle and Rs 5,000, from their procession. The accused have been identified as Amir (21) and Khem Chand (24).

Vehicle check
Last night, police were randomly checking vehicles at IGNOU Road near Anupam Apartment when the accused came from the MB Road side on a black Pulsar. "They were stopped and asked to produce the documents pertaining to the vehicle. The duo panicked as the motorcycle was stolen, and tried to flee from the spot. They were, however, overpowered by the alert police party. On verification, it was revealed that they stole the vehicle from the Shakarpur area. When Khem Chand was frisked, a made-in-Italy pistol was recovered from his possession," said a senior police official.
The confession
DCP (south) Chhaya Sharma said, "On sustained interrogation, the arrested duo confessed that they, along with their accomplices, were trying to steal a vehicle at Shiv Chowk near Ganesh Puri in UP when Constable Jitender intervened and tried to nab them. They then brutally stabbed him to death with a dagger and took his mobile phone, motor cycle and Rs 40,000 in cash."
"They also disclosed the names of their associates as Nadeem and Monu. A case has been registered under appropriate Sections and search is on to nab the others," she added.
