Guwahati: Two people were killed and five injured on Friday when militants opened fire in a village in Assam's Tinsukia district, police said.
The attack is suspected to have been carried out by the anti-talk faction of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), Assam Police chief Mukesh Sahay told IANS.
Four to five gunmen entered Philobari village and opened indiscriminate fire on the unsuspecting villagers, he said.
"Our operations are on to catch the killers," Sahay said.
