While a handi ka gosht might set you back by rs 400 at certain eateries, Cafe Momo's buffet is economical and offers a huge variety of dishes Chef preparing salad
The latest entrant to the city is Momo Cafu00e9 at Courtyard by Marriott. The name is derived from the concept of Modern Living and Modern Eating and the menu features vegetarian and non-vegetarian buffet and a-la-carte fare.
Ambience: Momo Cafu00e9's interiors are elegantly decorated with silk drapes and stylish wooden furniture. The buffet bar is located adjacent to the main bar.
Range:u00a0The buffet is priced at Rs 399 and includes Lentil and Chicken Broth Soup, Grilled Pepper Salad, Roast Potato, Carrot and Asparagus Salad, Beetroot, Cucumber Salad, Ghai Glass Noodle Salad and a Chicken Avocado and Mango Salad. For starters, there is Fried Fish with Tartar Sauce and Roast Chicken with Fennel and the main course includes Steamed Rice, Curd Rice, Veg Pulao, Chicken Curry, Handi ka Gosht, Italian Roast Veg, Rosemary Roast Potato, Bhindi Sambariya, Aloo Shimla Mirch, Palak and Idli Chaat. They offer desserts like Moong Dal Halwa, Kesari Rasgullas, Brownies, Cut fruits, Coconut Slice Cake, Basil Mascarpone and Butter Scotch Cream.
We tried: The Chicken Broth with tender chicken and cucumber pieces was tasty but a tad oily. The salad bar looked tempting and we tried the healthy as well as tasty Grilled Pepper Salad, which is a combination of four large sweet peppers. The Chicken, Avocado and Mango Salad was a colourful mix with deliciously spicy lime dressing. The Fried Fish with Tartar sauce reminded us of Bengali food at its best. Each piece was fresh, crispy and yummy. However, the Roast Chicken consisted of hardened chicken pieces and we had to leave it untouched. The starters were enough to fill our stomachs and we could barely manage to eat the main course.
The Aloo Shimla Mirch and Gatte ki Subzi had the right blend of spices and the capsicum pieces were crisp. The Palak Paneer was just average. The Handi ka Gosht was spicy and oily but was a delight for hardcore non-vegetarians. But the Chicken Curry was ordinary.
The dessert bar had a wide mix of Indian sweets and English desserts. The Moong Dal Halwa was good but you get better fare at the local sweet shop. The Kesari Rasgulla was cold, hard and tasted horrible. The flavour of kesar overpowered everything else. The brownies were yummy and fresh.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0
Service: The attendants are prompt and give you details about the dishes. After lunch, the manager even chatted with us about the cafu00e9 and the food.
