Muthulakshmi was picked up by the Tamil Nadu police minutes after she was released from the Central prison, only to be released on bail
Freedom continues to elude Muthulakshmi, wife of slain forest brigand Veerappan, who was picked up by the Tamil Nadu police minutes after she was released from the central prison yesterday.
Muthulakshmi married Veerappan in 1990. She was detained in 1992 for two years, and claims to have been tortured by the police
She was escorted by the Central prison police and handed over to their Tamil Nadu counterparts, who then produced her before the court in a case related to Dr Rajkumar's abduction.

The Tamil Nadu police produced her before a judge at Gopichettypalyam court, but she was released on bail, as the documents of acquittal from Karnataka courts were being verified. The judge, however, asked her to be in the court on May 19.
Muthulakshmi was acquitted on Friday by the Chamarajnagar District and Sessions court along with six others in the Palar bomb blast and shootout case, in which six policemen were killed in 1993. The brigand's wife has been acquitted in all four TADA cases registered against her in the state.
Though she is free, the Tamil Nadu police had a body warrant against her and informed the Parappana Agrahara jail authorities on Friday.
"Based on the requisition, the state police escorted her to Tamil Nadu and handed her over to their counter parts yesterday. She was taken to Gopichettipalyam court in the early hours to be produced before the court," said Lingaraju, superintendent of Parappana Agrahara prison.
