From a family that's influenced entirely by the world of creativity comes a young artist whose own art centers on the issues of women.

Artist Swetha BV is the young and talented former resident of Bangalore who likes to induce the Diptych method to her art, a style of merging two different ideas together to present a single thought.

Swetha, describes her art as a personal venture into the dilemmas women face in an aggressive society such as ours.

She said, "I put a small piece of myself in every painting. I paint personal experiences, both my own as well as others. In every piece exists a small piece of myself."

Premilla Baid, the director of Sumukha Gallery (where the Purdah Series is showing),u00a0 says, "Swetha's art is something I can relate tou00a0 and it brings about an inexplicable pull."

Although not a feminist herself, Swetha's own anger and emotions on the mistreatment and expectations of women from society feature prominently on canvas.

Swetha is also eclectic in her own way and prefers to use a mixed media of acrylics and textiles.

Her art is a stream of bright and loud colours that pop out through the canvas with equally strong and feminine messages.

The Purdah Series, which will be Swetha's first solo show, focuses on the veiled images of women and the social experiences faced by others of her gender.

Typically, in Swetha's art women are featured with their backs turned. "Society really has no idea what women are about, and they just see us in a certain way," Swetha said.

The strong headed post-contemporary era artist, now plans on a three dimensional format and intends on traveling across the country to work with craftsmen from different fields.
