67-year-old director of Poonawalla Foundation had been unwell for some days
Villoo Cyrus Poonawalla, noted businesswoman and wife of Poonawalla group chairman Dr Cyrus Poonawalla, passed away yesterday afternoon at the Ruby Hall Clinic.
The 67-year-old director of the Poonawalla group had been ill for some days and was undergoing treatment at the hospital. A massive cardiac arrest led to her demise.
Born in Mumbai on September 30, 1943, Villoo moved to the city after her marriage to Dr Poonawalla.
A director of the Serum Institute of India, Villoo was a passionate horse breeder and also a director of the Poonawalla Stud Farm. "A pious woman, Villoo is remembered as a kind and gentle boss who was especially concerned about her employees," said Vivek Pradhan, factory manager at Poonawalla Industries.
Villoo is survived by husband Dr Cyrus, son Adar, daughter-in-law Natasha and a grandson.
