Viral video: Oops! Light stand falls on 'model' students during show

Fashion show disasters make for great viral videos. Be it a model falling off the ramp or a wardrobe malfunction, people enjoy seeing those 'Oops!' moments again and again, and sharing them too. The latest fashion show disaster that's gone viral is one that happened at a Delhi University college. Though this one isn't the fault of the 'model' students.

The 40-second video shows a huge light stand come crashing down on a group of students taking part in a fashion show during their college festival. The accident took place on Tuesday at south Delhi's Deshbandhu College during their annual fest 'Sabrang', on from February 1 to 3.

Tragically, a 22-year-old student was severely injured in the accident. The other students participating in the event had a narrow escape on the stage.

The victim, Utkarsh Dahiya, a BCom student of Aurobindo College, was participating in the fashion show.

An FIR has been registered in connection with the incident.

"A case has been registered and the organisers are being questioned," said DCP (South-East) MS Randhawa.

According to Utkarsh's family, he has suffered serious nose injuries and is in the ICU at a private hospital in Noida.

"As soon as the accident took place, Utkarsh was rushed to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to Noida. He has suffered injuries to his nose bone and is in ICU at the moment," his uncle Sahdev Singh said.

Meanwhile, the college authorities have claimed they did not arrange for the logistics for the programme and are looking into the matter.

"We had rushed the student to the hospital and informed police about the accident. We are also trying to find out how the accident took place. The college has no role in making logistical arrangements for the fest. We outsource the work for light and stage setup," Deshbandhu Principal Ajay Kumar Arora said.
