A graduate from Allahabad University, Mohmmad Khushnood alias Shadab was just paying back the world in the same currency in which he was offered a bad deal.
Khushnood, who carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, was himself cheated of Rs 22 lakh in 2005 before he himself turned a visa cheat.
He started of his career as a travel agent in 2005 in Mumbai. He paid a Chennai-based travel agent Rs 22 lakh for his clients but the agent vanished leaving him in a state of debt from people of his native town.
The kingpin of a vast fake visa racket, Khushnood was arrested from Park Circcus, Kolkata, months after he had gone hiding in July 2009 after seven members of his gang were arrested in Delhi.
"Khushnood organised his own gang in Delhi on the basis of his experience as a travel agent," said Alok Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell).
