A day after MiD DAY reported on the shoddy work by railway staff, which led to the toilet block sewage pipe getting choked, Western Railway (WR) authorities swung into action to unblock the sewage pipe yesterday.
WR officials from various departments arrived at platform one to inspect the site, and ensured workers removed soil and muck from the sewer that had been blocking the flow. WR sources said this was a short-term solution, and promised to take concrete measures to get rid of the problem permanently.
"We have inspected the issues with the sewer, and will have to construct a separate pipeline to ensure the toilet waste flows smoothly to the BMC's main sewer line on the other side of the railway tracks," said a WR official.
The new line would have to go beneath all four tracks, and would be taken up at earliest, said a WR official. u00a0
