Syed Yasin (23) is desperately trying to save the compensation the US government gave his family after his father died in the 9/11 World Trade Centre attack.
Yasin's father, Syed Abdul Fatha was a customer service associate with Pithey Botheys Company in the US which had it's office in the 102nd floor of one of the towers.
"My father was killed in the terror attack, following which the US government gave compensation to Farhan and Rehan. The government also appointed Syed Abdul Rahman, my uncle, as trustee till the children became adults. Rahman was also asked to take care of the money," Yasin said.
He now alleges that Rahman transferred the compensation amount to his personal account.
When Yasin's family filed a complaint against him,u00a0 Rahman reportedly sent his men to beat up Yasin.
No trust in trustee
When Yasin and his family came to know that Rahman was pilfering the funds they filed a complaint with the Banashankari police.
The police filed a charge sheet against Rahman after investigating the case. The court also directed the bank to freeze Rahman's bank accounts and take back the money from him.
Enraged by the developments, Rahman sent a group of men to Yasin's house in BTM Layout. The group forcibly brought Yasin to Rahman's house, according to Yasin.
"Rahman was angry with me and my family for lodging a complaint against him. He and his men started beating me up.u00a0 They even threatened to kill me if I approach the police again," he said.
Yasin managed to escape from their clutches after he raised an alarm. Some passersby and neighboursu00a0 helped him.
"Sensing danger, Rahman and his associates fled the scene," Yasin said.
He lodged a complaint with Mico Layout police. They have taken up a case of assault and criminal intimidation and are looking for Rahman.
