Ifu00a0you are a scientist-in-the-making who has built a new form of drying agricultural produce, or a storyteller who tells children stories that weave in messages of nature conservation, or perhaps even an everyday individual who asks people not to throw plastic bottles on the streets, this is for you. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), along with the Bayer group, the multinational company that gave the world Aspirin, is organising their annual Bayer Young Environmental Envoy Program (BYEE).

This programme picks youngsters from around the world who have done impressive work in the field of environment conservation and takes them for a week-long trip (October 16-24) to Leverkusen, Germany. All the above-mentioned activities were projects of various youngsters who attended BYEE last year. Once selected, they get a chance to visit the beautiful city of Cologne and its world-famous Cologne Dome, along with a tour of Germany's impressive work at nature conservation. They will also attend conferences by UNEP members and experts in the field of nature conservation.

From India, two students will be chosen to attend the programme that lasts from October 16-24. Last year, the two representatives from India were a Mumbai student called Vaibhav Tidke, from the Institute of Chemical Technology, and Ashwin Chandrasekharan from Bengaluru.

In fact, Tidke, with his simple project of using solar panels to dry marine and agricultural produce, won the BYEE Leaders' Award. His solar dryer has helped many villagers in Maharashtra. The dried produce has led them to loose lesser crops and get prices for them.

Tidke won an undisclosed prize money from the award, and the Bayer group has been helping him implement his plans to expand his project and the NGO (Science For A Better Society) he has formed. He receives equipment and materials from Bayer's Material Science division.u00a0 Entries close today. So hurry up.
