Institutions consuming more than 12.5 kilo litres water will have to install recycling units
Even as the save water message by the Delhi Jal Board is yet to be implemented at home, people somehow always felt that they have a licence to splurge at public places like hotels, malls and public places.
But a Jal Board gag order is going to put a tab on the attitude soon.
However, for now residential societies have been kept out of the water rationing.
The proposal is about to be presented in next board meeting and a confident Delhi Jal Board chief executive officer Ramesh Negi said, "By next month we will come out with the notification. We are left with no option now.
It is the need of the hour."u00a0u00a0
The order will affect educational institutions, government offices, shopping malls and hospitals. The water quota of city hotels has already been cut down from 350 litres per room to 250 litres while for hospitals the supply has gone down from 450 litres per bed to 350 litres.
"We will ensure that the order is implemented in letter and spirit. Those who do not comply will have to face action," said Negi, hinting at cutting the water connection if someone found violating the order.
The city is facing a huge water shortage due to unplanned growth and limited water resources. Delhi is dependent on other states to meet its water demand.
The Jal Board is also planning to involve private players in water treatment and supply of water. "The water treatment plants will be developed in public private partnership to deliver the best and we are also contemplating outsourcing the leakage management to private enterprises," Negi said.
