Western Railways on Friday inaugurated a new foot-over-bridge at Dadar station.

Dadar station has one more claim to fame after getting the 100th east-west connector bridge in the suburban line that will connect all platforms there.

With the opening of the new foot-over-bridge, the total number of FOBs has gone up to 92 and there are eight subways on the Western line.

The new FOB is six meter wide connecting platforms 1 to 5 and at a cost of Rs 1.9 crore.

The officials claimed that it was constructed during night hours at the busiest station on the suburban section. The launching of girder was done by moving the road crane on track for launching of west and middle span.

The WR is constructing 17 more FOBs on its suburban stations like Dadar, Borivali, Goregaon, Malad, Kandivali, Vile Parle, Virar, Matunga Road, Mahalaxmi and Lower Parel.

They also plan to provide 12 escalators at stations including Dadar, Andheri and Borivali that would especially benefit senior citizens and physically disabled.
