Over one lakh Mumbaiites affected after Tata Power transmission lines allegedly tripped

For more than 45 minutes the posh suburban localities of Juhu, Vile Parle and Andheri were blacked out after a power outage on Saturday evening. The electricity supply went for a toss allegedly due to a problem with transmission lines of Tata Power.

The problem, which started at around 7.20 pm, affected over one lakh electricity consumers belonging to both Tata Power and Reliance Infrastructure. Sources said that there was complete blackout in many areas after the Malad to Versova 110 KV transmission line-2 of Tata Power allegedly tripped.

When contacted an official from Tata Power, which supplies electricity to over 2.5 lakh customers in Mumbai, told SUNDAY MiD DAY, "The Versova lines one and two tripped at 7.33 pm and the transformer was restored at 8.05 pm. The problem re-occurred in the transformer at 8.15 pm, which was fully resolved and supply was restored at 9.30 pm."

Due to the tripping of lines, at least six power transformers, which regulate electricity supply to various households, were affected. The problem was rectified after around 50 minutes and supply was partially restored after 8.15 pm.u00a0
