The Trash Festival promotes and demonstrates the concept of Sustainable Life Styles to those who really care
At the three-day festival, school children will spend time Thinking, Reflecting and Acting for a Sustainable Habitat (or TRASH-ing). The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and MET Rishikul Vidyalaya have put together the unique festival that targets students and teachers and reaches out to parents and the community at large.
The festival includes a beach trail, eco-workshops, exhibitions, competitions and games. On day one of the festival, a beach trail on Juhu beach will sensitise participants to the importance and function of the beach ecosystem. The session will end with a 15-minute beach clean-up. Day two will see hands-on workshops for students and teachers. Finally on day three, drop by at the Green Mela, which will have healthy food stalls, a movie screening and discussion, counters selling cloth bags, tribal artwork and handicrafts, and environment related publications.
On Today, 8.30 am to 10 am at Juhu Beach, near Juhu Traffic Police Chowk; January 14 and 15, 9 am to 3 pm at MET Rishikul Vidyalaya Campus, Bandra (W).
