The Guide dropped in at Burgundy Blues at Koregaon Park, which showcases a blend of colourful western andu00a0ethnic wear, ranging from patli pallu sarees to semi-patiala dress piecesu00a0

On the busy streets of North Main Road, a colourful board indicates the new clothes house ufffd Burgundy Blues. Inside we found a treasure house of accessories and garments such as saris, salwar-kameez, party wear and formal attire. The shop is owned by designer Kejal Palresa. "I always loved mixing and matching fabrics. My collection is ethnic and yet in sync with the latest trends. I like doing a lot of embroidery and sequin work on the fabric as it brings out the beauty in it."

Kejal designs the ethnic wear at Burgundy Blues while the western wear is outsourced.

The best thing is that you don't need to be anorexic to fit into their western wear, as it comes in various colours and sizes.u00a0u00a0

The shop has been divided in two levels; the first level displays clothes while in the middle of the room, there is a wood black laminated table placed for viewing the clothes. The place is cheerfully lit up with bright lights and small halogen lamps are placed across the shop. On the upper floor and in the basement, there are movable mirrors inclined to the wall and they display a variety of bags and clutches. In the basement, you will find Kejal's collection of clothes. There are three trial rooms on both levels, so you don't need to bother about serpentine queues.

Check out the Patli Pallu (with a delicate pallu), which is specially designed by Kejal, and is priced from Rs 12,000 onwards. It's a georgette saree dyed in various colours with hand-embroidered flowers with small motifs along the saree and a red colour brocade on the borders. Large handmade mango-shaped patchwork is placed on the pleats and there are sequins, pearls and thin copper zari lace to embellish the border of the saree. It comes with an embroidered red brocade blouse with a stylish open back and short sleeves.u00a0

They also have heavy pallu sarees (Rs 4,500 onwards) made from raw silk georgette, which are available in white colour with golden polka dots dyed in mehendi colour. There are red, dark green and rust raw silk designs all over the saree as well as heavy embroidery and zari work.u00a0 The blouse is made from foil fabric with polka dots on the sleeves.

The tier sarees (Rs 13,500 onwards) are made from pure georgette and come in shades of light yellow, peach and pink. They have floral designs on the border as well as zari, crystal and sequin work. The short-sleeved blouses are heavily embroidered.

We also liked their semi-patiala dress (Rs 1,250 onwards) with a golden-coloured kurta in raw silk. There are sequins and motis attached to the chiffon design. The chudidar dresses also looked chic and classy. They also have tassar beige-coloured silk kurtas embossed with copper thread work. It can be teamed up with an orange-coloured raw silk chudidar. Their accessories, especially the rexin bags, are also value-for-money and are priced at Rs 650 onwards.
