As members of a Sikh community in Wisconsin struggled to come to grips with a shooting that left six dead, the incident became a trending topic. As members of a Sikh community in Wisconsin struggled to come to grips with a shooting that left six dead, the incident became a trending topic. Someone using the handle Daneboe tweeted: ‘Another mass shooting in the US? At a Sikh temple? I am profoundly disappointed by the hate and ignorance in this country.' Senthorun Raj added: ‘Massacre described as domestic terrorism. How will this translate into politics, I wonder?' There was this comment from Shawn Stewart: ‘First it was the Batman shooting, now the Sikh temple shooting. People are screwed in the head.' And in the words of Gary: ‘I'm not seeing a lot of outrage over the shooting. Oh that's right, white people weren't the victims.'

A sad ending
Anuradha Bali, estranged wife of Haryana politician Chander Mohan, was found dead at her home in Mohali. Journalist Sagarika Ghose reacted with this tweet: ‘The strange sad saga of Fiza alias Anuradha Bali comes to an end. Women tend to suffer the most in such liaisons.' A certain MissWiss added: ‘Bali's case once again proves just how bad affairs with married men are.' There was also this from someone using an account credited to Dr Manmohan Singh: ‘Initial media reports about Bali called it suicide even before investigation. Media is always happy to help Congress.'

Back in the day
What life was like when we were kids - this was another topic of discussion prompting these among other wistful comments: ‘I didn't have to worry about problems or issues. I would just have fun'; ‘TV shows were way better than they are now'; and this: ‘I would put my face in the fan and talk just to hear that robot voice. Now they have an App for that.'

The last word
From industrialist Anand Mahindra: ‘Alas, we shall never again be able to use the term ‘Martian' to connote something or someone completely alien and unknown.'
