Glee chocolates
Zarana Choksi's Glee Chocolates, which are available in different flavours, caught our fancy in a large part because of their zany names inspired by Bambaiya-speak. Sample this: cappuccino is Chai-pani, mint is Nakabandi and coconut is Chikni. When recession hit, Zarana decided to move from the stock market to the kitchen. She trained in Switzerland and Paris in the art of chocolate making, before returning to the city to start her new venture.

Her latest range of chocolates inspired by Mumbai, was unveiled at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, earlier this year. She says, "Since the festival represents the best that the city has to offer, I decided to create a range of chocolates that drew influences from elements that are peculiar to Mumbai."

The chocolates are a marriage of opposites: Passion fruit or lemon with chocolateu00a0-- essentially daring blends that defy conventional pairings. The packaging is also faithful to the idea with the quintessential Mumbai characters like Munnabhai and Circuit being used, apart from the nimboo-chillis and taxis.

"We're in a time when there is shared affection for the cityu00a0-- in movies, coffee table books and in popular culture. My chocolates are an attempt to capture this delightful mismatch in one bite," she concludes.
