Seems after the long and tedious election season, Rahul Gandhi is planning to take a break.

The Tilak Marg traffic licencing office was taken by surprise on Wednesday when like any other citizen, the Gandhi scion personally came for an international driving licence.

"The zonal officials got a call from the transport department when they were about to close the office at around 4.30 pm.

We were directed to keep the office open for a VIP," said an official from the office, wishing anonymity.

As the news came that a VIP was to arrive, the office started buzzing with activities and rumours.


"After 20 minutes, we received another phonecall informing us that Rahul Gandhi will be visiting the office within a few minutes.

The officials who had closed their files opened them again and started waiting for the young neta," the official said.

Soon, Gandhi came accompanied by his security personnel. He filled his forms and chatted for a few minutes with the licencing officials.

He submitted Rs 500 as fee for the international driving licence and left by 5.50 pm.

"An international driving licence is issued to a person who is visiting a foreign country and wants to drive there. The licence has to be renewed after a year," the official said.

Officials there said Gandhi was issued a private four wheeler licence in 1999.
