BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain has lodged a police complaint alleging someone impersonated him while travelling to Bihar

BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain has lodged a police complaint alleging someone impersonated him while travelling to Bihar

Just two days before he turned 42, Member of Parliament Syed Shahnawaz Hussain 'travelled' from Delhi to Siwan by train. Only the BJP leader wasn't aware of this.

Clueless: Former union minister Shahnawaz Hussainu00a0was informed by
the railways about the crime.

It turned out to be a case of impersonation. The culprit commuted in the name of the former union minister via Vaishali Express to reach Siwan from Delhi.
The miscreant forged Hussain's letterhead and signature to obtain the e-ticket in his name.

Hot ticket
On December 10 the BJP leader was informed by the ministry of railways that they had issued an e-ticket for Vaishali Express from Delhi to Siwan on his request.

"Hussain was shocked to hear this since he had no plans to go to Siwan. He asked the ministry to show him the papers filed by the person who got the rail ticket in his name. When he received a copy of the application, Shahnawaz told the ministry that his letterhead and signature both had been forged by someone to travel in his name," said a police source.
Off the rails
He added that Shahnawaz then asked his personal secretary Rajesh Verma to approach the police and get an FIR lodged.

"Rajesh Verma came to Parliament Street Police Station and got a case registered. We have booked an unknown person in connection with forgery and conspiracy," said the officer.
Police sources said that the culprit is a master of cyber crime. The e-ticket was of Vaishali Express, from Delhi to Siwan.

"The culprit who travelled on the MP's name knew that he could be easily caught and so applied for an e-ticket. If this were an ordinary ticket he would have been apprehended when he came to collect the ticket," said an official.

Lost track
Shahnawaz said that his letterhead and signature were forged to give a Passenger Name Record (PNR) request to ministry of railways.
According to a police source, Shahnawaz told cops that through his own inquiries he had come to know that the PNR had been obtained through an e-mail. But he was unable to get further information about the culprit. So he wants the police to arrest him.
Police officials from Parliament Street said that the matter is being investigated.
"We can not divulge any information about the case. The accused will be arrested soon," said a senior police official.

Muscle-flexing to meet the PM
A Delhi University gym trainer impersonated a Congress leader to share a meal with Manmohan. He is now in police custody. A neighbour of the culprit, Sukhbir, is Sandeep Dhull, a Congress member. Dhull received an invitation to a ceremony organised at Teen Murti Bhawan on the occasion of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's birth anniversary. Sukhbir decided this was his opportunity.
"Dhull was not at his home when Sukhbir stole the invitation card and came to Nehru Library at Teen Murti Bhawan. He was wearing a t-shirt and jeans and looked like a college student. This drew the attention of officials from the PM's Security Cell, who took him into custody for interrogation and called the local police after he was found impersonating. He was later arrested," said a police official.
Identity crisis
Two engineering students were arrested for impersonating event management executives to attend a function, where Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was present, in the Capital. "The two were identified as Arvind Singh and Ashok Kumar, who study hardware engineering at a South Delhi college," a police officer said. The police said the two managed to acquire passes issued to employees of the event management company, which had organised the conference, through a friend. Apart from Singh, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Petroleum Minister Murli Deora were also present at the function.
"The PM was briefing the international conference on energy efficiency when the two sneaked into the hall," the officer said.
