Fitting fit: Boxer MC Mary Kom tending her bruised feet due to the ill-shoes provided by the sports ministry at an awards function
Four-time world champion woman boxer MC Mary Kom prayed for peace on receiving the highest sporting honour Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna. But throughout the award ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan, the 27-year-old pugilist was unsettled.

The feet on which she makes sublime moves in the ring were the cause of her pain. No, not her feet, it was the ill-fitting shoes that the sports ministry provided her for the ceremony.

The shoes were so tight that the Manipuri girl had to keep fixing them and tending to her bruised feet with cotton.

No point mentioning the bosses in the sports ministry were least bothered.

However, a concerned Indian opener Gautam Gambhir showed some concern and offered advice. Being a cricketer he must have been in similar situations. But it is tough being in the shoes of a sportsman in India, especially if you are not a cricketer. Isnt't it Mary Kom?
