Kamal Jain (62) the Canadian citizen who ran over traffic cop VB Jadhav on July 19 did not invite trouble only for himself. Now, the telecom major that hired him without a valid work permit has also come under the police scanner.
DCP Ravindra Sengaonkar, Foreign Registration Department, said, "Jain only had an entry visa, which does not allow him to work in India." Jain, who was served a Leave India notice on July 3, returned to the country on July 16.
Earlier, Jain had applied for a People of Indian Origin (PIO) card, which allows NRIs to work in the country, but now, it is less likely that he will be granted the card.
Jail term
Jain will have to serve at least seven years in jail if he is convicted in the hitu2013andu2013run case and will be deported to Canada on his release.
