Woman consumes bangles 'to avoid stomach pain'

Bhagyamma (27) consumed bangle pieces at 11 pm last night at Yelahanka. She had been suffering from stomach pain for the past year and had been treated by many doctors in the city.

According to her husband, Lavakumar, her neighbours had advised her to consume the bangles to avoid stomach pain.



However, doctors are unsure if she swallowed them to commit suicide or to get relief from the pain.
She works in a garment factory, while her husband Lavakumar works in a private firm.

After consuming the glass, when she started bleeding from the mouth, she confessed to her husband, who took her to Bowring Hospital, where she is now in ICU.

Lavakumar said, "After consuming it, she told me the truth and I immediately took her to hospital."
