Roopa Nagraje quit Hyderabad job and returned to city to avoid colleague's harassment, but was still pursued
Fed up of being harassed by her former colleague, a 23-year-old software engineer has sought police protection and filed a harassment complaint at the Byatarauyanapura police station on Saturday.u00a0
Roopa Nagraje, a resident of Pramod Layout on Mysore Ring Road, who was employed with Satyam computer services in Hyderabad since 2006, returned to Bangalore last year after B T Rudrappa began to harass her after she rejected his proposal.
Just friends
Roopa and Rudrappa worked in different branches of the company, but had soon became close friends and met frequently on weekends.
Things started to go wrong when Roopa rejected Rudrappa's proposal.
He began to harass her and she had to resign from the job and return home.
Threats on phone
She even changed her mobile number to avoid him, but he managed to get her new number.
When she informed him that she was getting married, he threw a fit and threatened to kill the groom and even blackmailed her about their alleged love affair.
Roopa panicked and handed the phone to her father Nagraje Gowda. Rudrappa threatened to kill Gowda, who was trying to pacify him.
When the situation went out of hand, Gowda lodged a complaint against Rudrappa on Saturday.
"My daughter had to leave her job because of the harassment, and now he is threatening to kill our entire family," Gowda told the police.
The Byatarayanapura police lodged a complaint against Rudrappa for criminal intimidation.
Police inspector D S Rajendra said, "Rudrappa is in Hyderabad currently, we will arrest him soon."
The police hope to take the help of the Cyberabad police for the arrest.
