A 25-year-old woman was found murdered on the occasion of Karva chauth at her house in Jehangirpuri area of north-west Delhi on Saturday night. A senior official said that the police were reported about the incident by the husband of the deceased.
The deceased, identified as Abha Gupta, used to live in I-Block in the area along with her husband, Naresh Gupta, and two children, a two-year-old son and a two-month-old daughter. "According to Naresh, he reached home Sunday evening and found Abha lying in a pool of blood. He rushed outside the house, screaming "murder", after which neighbours gathered at the spot. Naresh then called the police to report the incident," said the police official.
Murder weapon
He informed that the attacker slit Abha's throat with a sharp edged weapon. The body has been sent to BJRM hospital for post-mortem. "The entry of the attackers had been friendly. Police suspect that an illicit relationship may have triggered the incident. The husband of the deceased is also under the scanner," the police official added. "Police hopes to make an early arrest. Our investigations in the matter are on," added the senior police official.
