In an act of revenge, he then left a note blaming man, who married his godchild
In a case of extreme disciplinary action, a local 'wrestler' allegedly murdered a man for harassing women. He then left a note blaming another man for the murder.
Yerawada police yesterday arrested Shivaji Shripati Bhatkar (54) for brutally murdering Suraj More (52). More's body had been found on Thursday at the RTO's canteen at Fulenagar. His ears had been chopped.
According to Senior PI Deepak Savant investigations are still on, but preliminary evidence pointed at Bhatkar as the murderer.
"Bhatkar wanted to punish More for teasing women. So he first lured More with alcohol. When More was drunk, he slit his throat and then chopped his ears."
Vengeance
Bhatkar allegedly left a note near the body claiming that one Rajaram Bajrang Jadhav and his friends were responsible for the murder. He also allegedly left steel glasses engraved with the name of Jadhav's wife at the spot.
Said Savant, "Jadhav was married to his godchild who had committed suicide. Bhatkar suspected Jadhav was responsible for her death and implicated him in the murder to avenge the girl's death."
Bhatkar also allegedly met the dead girl's father, Narayan Sidhu Mane, who lives in Vita near Sangli district. "He told him that he had implicated somebody who was responsible for abetting his daughter's suicide and wanted Rs 3 lakh for doing this," said Savant.
Investigations have revealed that More lived alone in the city. He was actually a resident of Mumbai and had left his family around 20 years ago.
