Kannada writer N Narasimhaiah, who was struggling to pay his medical bills, says he can now die a peaceful death because he has bonded again with his fans.

MiD DAY had recently reported about his deteriorating health and his family's financial difficulties.

"After MiD DAY's report, people are realising that we still exist. People from Dharwad, Belgaum, Hubli, Bagalkot, Davanagere and Hassan who have read my father's books have sent us cheques. We didn't know my father had so many fans. We are grateful," said V N Ravindra.

Elated

Narasimhaiah, who once wrote a 200-page novel in a day on the publisher's request, says, "I'm happy because people still seem to remember me and it is a wonderful feeling when people come home and help me in whatever way they can. I can die a peaceful death now."

"The government has been slow to react, but I feel elated because of my readers' affection."

Ravindra says his father is more lively now since fans keep visiting him and his health seems to be improving with all the renewed attention.

Meanwhile, the BDA has got in touch with Narasimhaiah's son and may soon allot land to them.
