Hyderabadi Spice claims to whip up authentic biryani that's high on spice. WHAT's ON says you better skip this one

Hyderabadi Spice claims to whip up "authentic" biryani that's high on spice. WHAT's ON says you better skip this one

With new eateries mushrooming every month in the suburbs, the Oshiwara stretch seems to be a hot favourite. But quantity almost never ensures quality, and we wish half of these places would sink into oblivion, without a trace. Case in point: Hyderabad Spice, that claims to serve nothing but authentic Hyderbadi Biryani.

Veg Biryani and Mutton Biryani

Unfortunately, there's a big price to pay for "authenticity".

We tried: We ordered a Mutton Biryani (Rs 160) and a Veg Biryani (Rs 110) u2014 both arrived in two large bowls with enough to feed a family of four. The Veg Biryani was a cross between a pulao and Biryani; it didn't have enough veggies to pass off as a Biryani, and not enough aroma to be deemed a pulao. The Mutton Biryani had four tired-looking pieces of mutton, not well cooked either.

Ambience:
There is no incentive at this front, either. With only a bunch of tables and chairsu00a0 placed amid a decor-free restaurant, take-away is your best option.
the service: The service was polite and pleasant, but that could also be because we were the only patrons present. The waiter insisted we try the Apricot dessert. We really wish we hadn't surrendered to the plea.

At: Shop No. 2, building No. 27, Mhada Complex, New Link Road, Oshiwara.
