Free viewing of films need no longer mean downloading torrents. Shemaroo Entertainment has launched Shemaroomovies on YouTube this month, where you can catch full-length recent releases legally, free of cost, on the day of their DVD release
Today, the entertainment consumption pattern is moving from the physical format to digital.u00a0 YouTube provides the most legitimate monetising method on the Internet. Uploading our content on YouTube not only curbs piracy but also acts as a revenue generation source," explains Jai Maroo, Director, Shemaroo Entertainment.

Currently, 20 movies, which include a mix of newly released movies like Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji, Dhamaal, Anwar and Fool-n-Final and old classics like Anand, Mili, Golmaal, Teesri Kasam and The Great Gambler are available on the channel. And you'll get regional content toou00a0-- Shemaroo has tied up with a host of regional labels like Ganesh Films (a big player in Kannada content) and Navrang (a Gujarati label), among others.
Although a large part of the uploaded content comes from Shemaroo's own library, convincing producers and owners of other content to let it be uploaded to YouTube comes with its own challenges. "Producers today are ready to experiment and open to new media technologies. The medium serves as a new way to reach audiences. So it is welcomed by the industry," says Maroo. Now, all you need is an Internet connection with good speed, and your Facebook window firmly shut.
