Ashutosh Singh (22), a student of Symbiosis Law College, has made many trips between the Inlaks Budhrani and Jahengir hospitals since Saturday -- the day of the blast at the German Bakery. Singh has been busy taking care of the needs of his roommates at the college hostel who were admitted to the hospitals after they sustained injuries in the blast.

Singh has also been busy arranging for blood, and looking after his friends' parents.

Most victims hurt in the blast were students who were not from Pune. In absence of their families, it is friends who have been maintaining a vigil to do everything possible for the victims.

"It is a tough job handling parents of the injured. It's so difficult to be brave and face them, assure them about the safety of their children," explained Ashutosh Srivastav (21), a third year student of Symbiosis Law College.

Most have begun to work out shifts. The students are happy that they have managed to collect enough blood not only for their friends, but even for others. Hemant Mittal (21), another student of Symbiosis says, "We spread the message through social networking websites. Thanks to our messages over 100 people from all walked of life walk in to donate blood."
