It seems night patrolling in Kothrud is not enough to deter local goons.

It seems night patrolling in Kothrud is not enough to deter local goons. The windows and windscreens of six cars and one auto rickshaw parked by the road were shattered by unidentified youth on motorbikes in the area late last night.

Eyewitnesses said the group also pelted stones at residents who emerged from their houses before fleeing the spot. The incident occurred near the Ashish Garden area close to Eklavya College in Kothrud.

When MiD DAY visited the spot at 1.30 am, the police on night duty were tight-lipped and refused to reveal any information. Residents, meanwhile, complained that they felt their vehicles were not safe anymore.

Rickshaw driver Bhagwant Nivekar and his wife Draupada were worried. "Our rickshaw was singled out by these goons and they lobbed large stones at it," said Draupada.

ASI Hiraman Bagul from Bund Garden police said, "They wereu00a0 on bikes and abused residents before fleeing towards the Chandni Chowk area," he said. This is the second such incident in the area in the past two years."
