A tiny village, Pimparkhed is located about 30 km from Shirur taluka . Shirur police have arrested the accused, identified as Vaibhav Narayan Dhome, and booked him under Sections 342, 376 of the IPC and Section 4 of the Protection of Children Against Sexual offences Act, 2012.u00a0
According to Shirur Police, the victim had informed her parents that she was going to attend special classes, which was being conducted during the summer vacation at her school. But, when the victim's uncle visited the school to invite the teachers for a family function, he was told that his niece had not reported to school.
The uncle informed other family members and they began searching for the girl. They later found her in an empty classroom.
Shirur police inspector Ashok Kshirsagar said, "Due to the summer vacations, besides two to three classrooms all others were locked. The victim in her statement said that Dhome dragged her to an empty classroom and allegedly raped her."
Kshirsagar said, "Dhome allegedly dragged the girl when she had stepped out of her classroom to drink water before her teacher arrived."
Police said that the incident might have gone unnoticed, as there were not many people present at school due to ongoing summer vacations. Kshirsagar further said that Dhome would be produced in court today. u00a0
