Bharat Tex 2024, a global textile event is being organised in the country from February 26 to 29 February. The event inspiration from the 5F Vision, will showcase India's prowess in the textile Sector and reaffirm India's position as a global textile powerhous, the statement from prime minister's office (PMO) said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bharat Tex 2024, global textile event on Monday at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Organised by a consortium of 11 Textile Export Promotion Councils and supported by the government, the event is built on the twin pillars of trade and investment, with an overarching focus on sustainability.
"This forum will showcase India's vibrant textile heritage and innovation. Together, let us weave a brighter future for trade, investment and exports in the important textiles sector", PM Modi posted on X. "BharatTex2024 is an excellent platform to highlight India's exceptional capabilities in the textile industry", he said.
Bharat Tex 2024 is expected to witness participation of policymakers and global CEOs, over 3000 exhibitors and 3,000 buyers from over 100 countries, and more than 40,000 business visitors, besides textiles students, weavers and artisans. More than 50 announcements and MoUs expected to be signed during the event, the statement added.

The four days event will feature over 65 knowledge sessions with more than 100 global panelists discussing various issues facing relevant to the sector. It will also have dedicated pavilions on sustainability and circularity, an âIndi Haat', fashion presentations on diverse themes such as Indian Textiles Heritage, sustainability, and global designs, as well as interactive fabric testing zones and product demonstrations, the statement from PMO said.
Meanwhie, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also lay the foundation stone, inaugurate and dedicate to the nation around 2000 railway infrastructure projects, worth more than Rs. 41,000 crore on Monday. The event will be conducted via video-conferencing.
The projects the Prime Minister will lay foundation stone, includes redevelopment of 553 railway stations under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. These stations, spread across 27 States and Union Territories, will be redeveloped at a cost of over Rs. 19,000 crores.
He will also lay the foundation stone for 1500 Road Over Bridges and Underpasses, spread across 24 States and Union Territories and the total cost of these projects is around Rs 21,520 crores.
