Canada to allow entry of travellers fully vaccinated with Covaxin

Travellers who are fully vaccinated with the shots from Sinopharm, Sinovac and Covaxin will be allowed to enter Canada starting November 30, the Canadian government said. Currently, Canada only accepts travellers who have received the Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson and Johnson vaccines.

Meanwhile, with the improvement in the Covid-19 situation, the Odisha government has allowed cultural activities, including open air theatres, drama, orchestra and melodies from Saturday. In an order, Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena said cultural gatherings, programmes including melodies, orchestra, jatra, opera, classical, folk and other permitted dance forms, cultural competitions, open air theatres, drama, street plays and other such performances have been allowed to open with due compliance to Covid-19 protocols such as mandatory wearing of face masks, physical distancing, provision of thermal scanning, among others. Auditoriums, assembly halls and similar facilities are allowed to open, he said.

India's Covid-19 infection tally rose by 10,302 in a day to reach 3,44,99,925 while the number of active cases declined to 1,24,868 during the same period, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Saturday. The death toll climbed to 4,65,349 with 267 more fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am. Active cases decreased by 1,752 in 24 hours and now comprise 0.36 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020. Also, the national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.29 per cent, the highest since March last year, the Health Ministry said.

Over 129 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses have been provided to states and Union Territories so far through free of cost channels and through direct state procurement category, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday. More than 21.65 crore balance and unutilised Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and Union Territories, it said. The Ministry asserted that the Union government was committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of Covid-19 vaccination throughout the country.

Indore reports 21 new dengue cases, breaches 1,000 mark

The number of dengue patients in the city has breached the thousand mark after 21 new cases of the disease were reported. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr BS Setiya said that the reason for the increase is water logging around people's homes. "At present, there are 28 active dengue cases in the district, out of which 15 are being treated in hospitals," he said.
