Dussehra or Vijayadashami is an annual festival celebrated by Indians across the country on the 10th day of the Hindu month of Ashvina. The day falls after Navratri, the nine-day festival celebrated to honor the nine incarnations of Goddess Durga.
It is observed across the nation with great pomp and show. Observed at the end of Navratri every year, Dussehra symbolises the triumph of good over evil. It is believed that the festival is celebrated to remember the victory of Lord Ram over Ravana.
This day is also celebrated as Vijayadashami as it marks the end of Durga Puja. On this day, a huge sculpture of Ravana is burned to imply the victory of good over evil.
This year, Dussehra 2023 or Vijayadashami will be celebrated across the country on October 24, 2023.
