In the final phase of the Lok Sabha polls, the Election Commission has directed state authorities and Chief Electoral Officers to take appropriate action to mitigate the negative effects of heatwaves or precipitation when forecast. The Phase 6 Lok Sabha elections, which are scheduled for this Saturday, have sufficient preparations made by the poll panel.
In eight states and UTs, 58 PCs are set to vote. Elections in the NCT of Delhi and Haryana are scheduled for this phase. The other states/UTs that will continue with their elections in this phase are West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh. Simultaneous voting will be held for 42 assembly constituencies in the Odisha State Legislative Assembly.
According to the poll panel, polling places are equipped with enough shade, drinking water, ramps, restrooms, and other necessities to guarantee that voters cast their ballots in a safe and comfortable atmosphere. Polling parties have been sent to their designated polling places with voting equipment and supplies.
The Commission has called upon voters to turn out in large numbers at polling stations and vote with responsibility and pride. "Voters of PCs in urban centres like Delhi, Gurgaon, and Faridabad are especially reminded about their right and duty to vote and break the trend of urban apathy," the Election Commission said in a release.
