The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday announced Isudan Gadhvi as its chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections. The announcement was made by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal who said the 40-year-old Gadhvi got as many as 73 per cent votes in a poll conducted by the party. Here are some interesting facts about Isudan Gadhvi.
Isudan Gadhvi hails from a farmers' family in Dwarka district's Pipaliya village.
He belongs to the other backward castes, which account for 48 per cent of the state's population.
Isudan Gadhvi is a former TV anchor and a journalist.

Gadhvi joined AAP in June 2021 and was facilitated by Arvind Kejriwal.
Isudan Gadhvi is a member of AAP's National Executive.

He is also party's National Joint General Secretary.
He was choosen as AAP's CM candidate following a crowdsourcing campaign under which the people of the state could give their opinion on a number and an email id shared by the party until 5 pm, November 3.
Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal had launched the campaign on October 29 asking people whom they wanted as their chief ministerial candidate. Over 16 lakh people voted and 73 per cent of those preferred Gadhvi, Kejrwial said.
Gadhvi was pitted against state party unit chief Gopal Italia, who played a key role in the Patidar community agitation.
