India is gearing up to celebrate its 77th Independence Day on August 15 (Tuesday). In 2023, India will be celebrating its 76 years of Independence on August 15 and will be onto its 77th year of Independence.
Independence Day is celebrated with pomp across the nation and Indians around the globe. This year's Independence Day will culminate the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" celebrations, which were launched by the Prime Minister from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on March 12, 2021, and will, once again, usher the country into "Amrit Kaal" with renewed vigour to realise PM Narendra Modi's dream of making India a developed country by 2047.
A number of new initiatives have been taken to celebrate the 77th Independence Day. A large number of guests have been invited as compared to last year.

Independence Day 2023: Theme
Our country celebrates Independence Day with a different theme each year. The theme for Independence Day 2023 is "Nation First, Always First". All the programmes and events on this day will be based on this theme.
Independence Day 2023: History
On July 4, 1947, the Indian Independence Bill was introduced in the British House of Colonials. British dominance came to an end after 200 years on August 15, 1947. The British enacted the Indian Independence Act on July 18, 1947, and the entire act was the reason for the Indian Independence Movement, which had been active for a long period of time.
Many freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose, and more, fought for our independence. Several brave fighters laid down their lives for our country.
Independence Day 2023: Significance
Independence Day is observed as a national holiday in the country. This day in particular serves as a reminder of the numerous sacrifices made by our warriors to advance the liberation movement and secure our independence from British domination.
Independence Day is a reminder of the many sacrifices and struggles made by the Indian freedom fighters to help the country achieve its freedom from the British Raj and why we should honour this Independence. The day also invokes feelings of patriotism for the nation and the willingness to serve the country and lead it to prosperity. It also creates a sense of unity and duty among citizens.
