Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra at a gathering at Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab on Sunday
Following Narendra Modi's recent visit to Punjab, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday arrived in the state to participate in Nyay Sankalp Sabhas. These events were held in Patiala, Chandigarh and Fatehgarh Sahib, where she addressed the public and engaged with local leaders and supporters. Her visit underscores the importance of Punjab in the general election and highlights the ongoing efforts of major political parties to secure support in the region.
While addressing the public in Chandigarh, she said that Jawaharlal Nehru had called Chandigarh a symbol of democracy. "Today, unemployment is a big issue. There are 70 crore jobless people in the country while 30 lakh government posts are lying vacant," she said.
Vadra said the second big issue is inflation. "But Modi does not say anything about it. Today, vegetables and oil are expensive. Diesel and petrol have become costly. It is becoming difficult to pay children's fees. Modi waives off the loans of billionaires. Nothing has been done for farmers. Not even R1 of any poor person has been waived. At the same time, he does not talk about women," she added.
Targeting the BJP, she said, "The BJP became the richest party in five years. Mahatma Gandhi was the biggest leader of the Congress party. The freedom movement was based on truth inspired by the Bhagavad Gita. When Nathuram Godse shot Gandhi, he uttered the words, âHey Ram'. The Congress party is called an anti-Hindu party [by the BJP] and is said to be against religion. We feel ashamed of the statement given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bihar yesterday. Modi is ready to do anything for power. The standards are being lowered. Modi did not feel ashamed. He wants power on the basis of religion for the third time."

She further said, "No religion or God has said one must vote for BJP. Recognise those who are going to listen to your issues and problems and have walked 4,000 km. Fifty per cent of government posts will be given to women and Rs 50,000 crores will be brought for new businesses.
