According to the Election Commission of India data on Lok Sabha Election Results 2024, the BJP won 240 seats, down from 303 in 2019. The Congress improved its performance by winning 99 members.
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 292 seats revealed Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 data, while the INDIA alliance won 230, indicating fierce competition and defying expectations, the news agency report added.
Per ANI report, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has won a third term, but he will require the cooperation of other coalition parties, particularly JD(U) president Nitish Kumar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.
The INDIA group is hoping to persuade some of the BJP's partners to flip the balance in its favour.
On Tuesday, the Congress President stated that the party will begin conversations with its friends and prospective new partners, the news agency report.
Till we don't talk to our alliance partners and the new partners who are going to ally with them, we will talk to them as well and see how we can make a majority. If I talk about all the strategies here, Modiji will become clever," the Congress president said at a press conference after Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 were announced.
"I thank our INDIA bloc partners. Everyone campaigned for each other and worked. Our fight hasn't reached its conclusion, we have to keep fighting for people's rights, the protection of the Constitution and democracy, the nation's development, and safety on the border," he added in his address made after Lok Sabha Election Results 2024.
