A breakthrough has been struck in a 17-year-old murder case when a Gurugram Police cybercrime team captured the culprit. The incident occurred in September 2007, when two males, Nagender and Rakshakpal, were found injured inside Rishi Public School in Sector 31.

Despite efforts to revive Nagender, he died from his injuries during treatment. A murder case was later filed at the Sector-40 police station, reported IANS.

According to the report, after years of inquiry and search, police located and detained Kamal Singh Mehta (48) on Saturday in his hometown of Bageshwar, Uttarakhand. Mehta, who had previously worked as a bus operator at Rishi Public School, admitted to the crime during interrogation.

Varun Dahiya, ACP (Crime), stated that the fatal assault resulted from a disagreement between Mehta and the victims. Mehta allegedly hit the victims with an iron rod before fleeing the scene. Following the incident, he avoided arrest by moving to various locations in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. At the time of his detention, Mehta was employed as a driver in Uttarakhand, the IANS report further added.
