The Narendra Modi dispensation is harmful for the country as it has failed on every front and betrayed people's trust, the Congress charged on Sunday, on the seventh anniversary of the government.

"The truth is Modi government's seven years are a story of immeasurable pain, insurmountable devastation and unfathomable agony and anguish for a nation of 140 crore people," it said. It released a seven-point charge sheet of "blunders" it accused the Centre of committing, and alleged that the Modi dispensation abdicated its responsibilities.
The list included a declining economy, rising unemployment and inflation, and Covid-19 mismanagement. Congress general secretary Randeep Surjewala said the last seven years have been a story of unprecedented devastation, abdication of responsibility and abandonment of people by a government that was showered with all the love and affection. "The Modi government is responsible for runaway inflation where petrol is crossing Rs 100 for first time in 70 years and mustard oil is crossing Rs 200 per litre." He said the time has come to ask why "a pseudo-nationalist government utterly failed to defend our borders and to push back the Chinese from our territory".

Accusing the Centre of politicking at a juncture when the country is fighting against Covid-19, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren urged Modi to "weather the storm" together with states. Lashing out over oxygen distribution, he said Jharkhand supplied 34 per cent of the required life-saving gas to the country but had to beg the Centre for allocation of the gas to the state.
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut saying, "The country is surviving on the good deeds of previous governments since the time of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to Manmohan Singh." The NCP urged people to come forward and be vocal on social media to highlight the Modi government's failures.
