PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday released Rs 18,000 crore as the 15th instalment of the PM-Kisan scheme to more than eitght crore farmers across the country. From a function celebrating the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas in Jharkhand's Khunti district, the PM transferred the money digitally to the bank accounts of the farmers by clicking a button.
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) aims to support farmers in meeting their agricultural and other incidental needs. Under the scheme, financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per year is transferred to the bank accounts of farmers in three equal instalments. Before this instalment, more than Rs 2.62 lakh crore was transferred.
The Congress, meanwhile, questioned the release of the money just two days ahead of assembly elections in Chhattisgarh and MP, and wondered if it was "intentional". The sixth instalment of the PM-Kisan was released on August 1, 2020, while the ninth instalment on August 9, 2021, Congress leader Jairam said in a post on X in Hindi. The 12th instalment was released on October 17 last year, said Ramesh, whose party aims to retain power in Chhattisgarh and defeat the BJP in Madhya Pradesh.

Amit Shah on Wednesday said the Bemetara district in Chhattisgarh has become a centre of "love jihad" and that no one would dare do such an act if the BJP is voted to power. He accused Chief Minister Baghel of insulting Lord Mahadev by "naming" a betting app after him. Shah alleged that Baghel had turned the Durg division from being an education hub to a "centre of betting".
PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday appealed to voters in MP to elect the BJP to power for a developed state and country, asserting that people are very angry with the dynastic and negative politics of the Congress. In his posts on X, Modi also assured Chhattisgarh voters that the BJP is sworn to fulfil all its pledges. "The Congress is set for a rout in the elections," he said.
Alleging that the Congress only used Muslims as vote bank, Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday asked under whose watch the demolition of Babri Masjid happened. Rao, who addressed an election rally at Nizamabad, made a veiled reference to Rahul Gandhi's âmohabbat ki dukan' comments. If one is secular, it should be reflected in one's work, said Rao.
