Nagpur Police enforce 'no-drone' zone at RSS headquarters due to security concerns

Nagpur Police have declared the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Mahal, Nagpur, as a 'no-drone' zone until March 28, stated a PTI report.

According to the report, photography and videography are also prohibited during this time due to worries about a possible security danger. Joint Commissioner of Police Aswathi Dorje issued the order under Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) Section 144 (1) (3), citing the headquarters' position in a densely populated region surrounded by hotels, lodges, and coaching centres.

The order is intended to prevent anybody passing through the area from taking pictures, movies, or utilising drones that pose a perceived threat to the RSS headquarters, the report added.

The order cited in the PTI report stated, "Individuals passing through the vicinity could take pictures and videos or employ drone videography, posing a potential threat to the headquarters. Therefore, I am prohibiting the taking of pictures, videos or drone photography in the area."

Violations of this order will result in legal action under Indian Penal Code Section 188. This restriction will be enforced between January 29 and March 28, 2024, the report further stated.

In an unrelated incident, Navi Mumbai Police booked nine persons for investment fraud. According to another PTI report, the accused persons duped a 42-year-old woman and others of Rs 2.97 crore and promising high returns from an investment scheme.

The woman, who lives in the Seawoods neighbourhood of the city, complained to the police on Sunday. An official told the news agency on Monday that the accused persons had invested the funds taken from the complainant and other victims in shares and to acquire additional movable and immovable properties over three years.

However, the accused failed to provide any gains or refund the invested money to the victims.

Reportedly, the cops, based on the woman's complaint, filed a case against nine accused under provisions of the Indian Penal Code, the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, the Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes Act and the Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (In Financial Establishments) Act.

The official told PTI that the probe is underway.
