A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed by her school teacher in Barmer district of Rajasthan, the police said on Monday, reported the PTI.
The body of the girl, a class 11 student, was found in a water tank, they said.
According to the PTI, the accused, Prahladram, went to the girl's house on Sunday morning, when her family members had gone to a wedding, and raped her. Later, he killed the girl and dumped her body in the water tank, said Surbhan Singh, Station House Officer, Bakhasar police station.
"When the girl's family members returned home, they could not find her. Later, they found her body in the water tank," Singh said.

The accused is on the run and efforts are being made to arrest him, he said.
Meanwhile, in an another incident, the Navi Mumbai Police in Maharashtra have filed a case against a 34-year-old man from Panvel in Maharashtra's Raigad district for allegedly molesting a 16-year-old girl, an official said, reported the PTI.
The case against the man was registered at Khandeshwar police station in Navi Mumbai for the incidents that took place on January 9 and 10, he said, as per the PTI.
As per the complaint lodged by the victim's mother, the accused took the teenage girl to a secluded place in Panvel, where he touched her inappropriately, the police official said.
He was booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 363 (kidnapping) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and also under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
On Sunday, the Anti-Gangster Task Force arrested a drug gang leader in Gangapur City district and seized over 121 kg of ganja, 588 grams of opium, 900 grams of doda poppy and Rs 1,52,260 in cash from his house, police said, as per the PTI.
The task force arrested the drug gang leader from his house in Todabhim police station area on Saturday, they said.
The value of the drugs seized has been estimated at Rs 1.21 crore in the international market, police said.
Additional Director General of Police, Crime and Anti-Gangster Task Force, Dinesh MN, said that the task force team took major action on Saturday and arrested drug gang leader Ratan Singh Dhakad from his house in Todabhim police station area of Gangapur City district.
Over 121 kg of ganja, 588 grams of opium, 900 grams of doda poppy and Rs 1,52,260 in cash were recovered from Dhakad, he added.
The senior police official said that the team raided the accused's house and arrested him from the spot.
