A police probe has found that Sana Khan (34) had gone to Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh on August 2 after a fight a day earlier over video call with her estranged husband Pappu Sahu, who allegedly suspected her character, the news agency reported.
She went missing that day and a probe revealed she was killed allegedly by her husband and his associates and the body disposed of, the official said.
"A probe has also found a sextortion link to the case as she was allegedly being used to honeytrap others by the accused. Her husband and others have been arrested and charged with murder," the official said.
Sana Khan was part of the BJP's minority cell from Awasthi Nagar here, as per police.
Meanwhile, in the murder case, Rabbu alias Ravishankar Yadav and Kamlesh Patel, both residents of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, were arrested in the matter on Tuesday, a police official had earlier said.
The police had earlier said that Sana Khan (34), a functionary of the BJP minority cell, was allegedly forced into a sextortion racket run by her husband and others who used her as a "honey-trap", according to the PTI.
The accused blackmailed several men in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh by using her and earned crores of rupees, they said, reported the news agency.
Sana Khan's mother on Sunday lodged a complaint with the Nagpur police, alleging that her daughter was forced into joining the sextortion racket. Based on her complaint, a case was registered against Khan's husband Amit alias Pappu Sahu (37) and his accomplices.
