Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and ruling DMK president M K Stalin on Tuesday said that the Supreme Court's judgment in the Bilkis Bano case has given a ray of light amid darkness and it has exposed the BJP's 'double standards'.
Reacting to the top court's verdict in the Bilkis Bano case, Stalin said justice has eventually prevailed and it has brought solace. "Amid darkness, the Supreme Court judgment is a ray of light that gives confidence," he said in a post on X.
The apex court has slammed the Gujarat BJP regime for hiding truths and for being 'complicit with convicts,' and it shines light over bending of laws for political mileage.
The Gujarat BJP regime struggled to set free even those convicted for serious offences, if they liked them. They did that by misleading the court and by concealing facts.

Alluding to the BJP government at the Centre and the office of Governor, Stalin said 'hindrance' was posed even for lawful release of prisoners in Opposition-ruled states, which showed their 'double standards.'
The SC ruling, a victory for Bano's struggle, gave encouragement to affected women, he said and lauded democratic forces including senior advocates who supported her in her fight.
Meanwhile, Communist Party of India general secretary D Raja on Tuesday said INDIA alliance is confident that the BJP government will be removed from power in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The forces that are attacking the Constitution and spreading politics of hate must be defeated, he said.
Referring to the Supreme Court judgement on remission granted to convicts in the Bilkis Bano case, he alleged that the verdict has "exposed the fraud of the BJP and is an indictment on the Gujarat government and also the Narendra Modi government at the Centre".
"Modi had risen to power with the promise of creating two crore jobs every year. After 10 years, they cannot say where are the 20 crore jobs which should have been created by now. Only some of the super rich like (Gautam) Adani have thrived under this regime," the CPI leader alleged.
"To distract people, Modi is now speaking about his elusive guarantees about everything. And since the BJP's parent body RSS had no role to play in 1947, when India achieved Independence, he wants us to think of 2047, forgetting what we are experiencing now," he added. (With inputs from agencies)
